What IS THE BOOKING PROCESS?

Fill in the booking form where you provide me with your contact details, let me know if you want a standard or bespoke caricature or pet commission
Upload reference pictures. Please see my guide to a good reference picture here. Accessible version available here (large text, high contrast)
I will send you an email within 2-3 days:
STANDARD: I will confirm my availability and send an invoice with payment details (or if reference pictures are inadequate I will send a query)
BESPOKE: I will respond with queries and provide pricing after consultation
I will begin work and send your artwork to your booking email address within 10 days of receiving payment!

What information IS REQUIRED ON THE BOOKING FORM?

Please complete the Google Form. You will need to provide your:

name: please let me know your name so I can address you in correspondence
email address: your invoice and delivery will be sent to this address
type of picture: caricature/ pet drawing and package type (standard/ bespoke)
format requirements: aspect ratio preferences (square, A4, A3, 20cm x 30cm)
reference pictures: please upload pictures of the subject(s) and additional items, backgrounds, if applicable
social media: here you can opt-out of having your reference images shared on my social media
deadlines: if this is a birthdays or weddings or anniversary gift let me know the date and I'll make sure I don't post before this date has passed
free text field: please give a description of the elements you want including: for people and dogs tell me if multiple faces, their personalities, their likes, etc, photos of backgrounds you want including. Here you can let me know anything else you think is important. For example, if you provide multiple references but love one in particular, this is where you let me know.

how long will it take?

I will respond within 2-3 days to confirm your order, discuss reference picture(s) and extras, if required, and communicate expected timelines. These can vary based on other prior commitments but you can typically expect for your drawings to take between 1-2 weeks after I receive the payment. Payment details will be shared on booking confirmation and payment can be made via bank transfer or Paypal.
I will only start work once I have received payment.
If you require accelarated timescales please let me know. I may be able to work to accomodate this but it will come at extra costs.

What does a good reference picture look like?

The better the reference picture(s), the better likeness the caricature will be! Please check out my:

Like passport pictures, good photographs should be large, well lit, distinct, and show the subject's face clearly.
For pets it is crucial to send me photos where I can see the eyes and nose clearly/ in high quality as capturing this likeness is what makes a pet portrait recognisable. The best results are when pictures of pets are taken at eye level.
Life is also easier if you can share multiple reference pictures at booking with different expressions, slightly different angles, etc. This also makes it more likely that you will include a usable picture first time.

WHAT CAN I DO WITH THE ARTWORK?

Please enjoy your artwork! 😁 You are more than welcome to use for personal consumption, i.e. print out as a gift, to share on your social media, use as wallpaper, send to family members, etc.

If you are printing for personal usage, I would recommend a professional fine-art printing company (I typically print on HahneMühle rag paper as I like the matte finish). I have worked with the following companies in the past in the UK and Germany and was very satisfied with the quality of prints:UK: https://www.point101.com/Germany: https://www.berlinprint.de/en/
I will continue to own the copyright to these images, so unless explicitly agreed, the images cannot be used for commercial purposes/ merchandise. For example, if you wish to put the design on t-shirts or mugs or other products and make money from the sales of these, there would be pricing implications. We would need to discuss this separately.

Will I GET a draft sketch to review?

STANDARD: There will be no iterations. This decision was made to keep pricing as low as possible for you.
BESPOKE: If you ordered a bespoke commission, I will send you a drafted design for feedback. There will be one round of iterations included in the quoted price.

Will my drawing appear on the @ledg_art instagram page?

I may share the artwork on my Instagram page and/ or website. I will not pro-actively tag any of the recipients on artwork shared but feel free to tag yourselves in my posts.
Without express permission, I will not share your people reference pictures on social media, as I know caricatures are normally given as gifts and the recipients will not have had a chance to consent themselves.
For pet portraits I would love to include the reference image alongside the artwork. Please opt-out in the booking form if I do not have permission to use this.
Finally, no artwork will be shared on instagram prior to you receiving the artwork. On the booking form you can also let me know if this is a gift and any key dates in relation to this. Unless I am tagged in posts with the artwork prior to this date, I will not post before the special date you share.
